In September 1996, in the heart of the Ruhrgebiet, Dr. Reiner Heimsoth, Dr. Alfred Heimsoth and Andreas Grothus founded keytech. The development of ProfiDB, today’s keytech PLM and DMS systems, happened even before the company was founded. The Windows native solution was marketed so successfully in 1995 that it became necessary to start our own business. This was the only way we would be able to independently develop our product design according to our ideals without compromise in the integrated product lifecycle management field.
In the following years we were able to secure many partnerships with CAD and ERP vendors. For example, we were one of the first PLM systems to achieve Microsoft Gold Certification, and since 1997 we have been a ‘SolidWorks Certified Gold Partner’. In 2007 we finally renamed our software and sold the current version for the first time with the name keytech PLM. The successful marketing of our PLM system led to continued healthy growth of keytech Software GmbH. Through years of product and project experience we were able to build our competence and have now been a leading supplier of PLM solutions for many years.
We now employ around 75 people and we are especially proud of our low turnover rate. Some of our project leaders have been working with clients for more than 15 years, and the entire original keytech team is still working in the company. Software development at keytech is done in-house working closely with our customers, ensuring our products’ quality and relevance for our customers. In 2011 we met the increased demand in Southern Germany and other German-speaking countries with the founding of keytech Süd in Sulz am Neckar.
