Bills of material are of particular importance in the interaction between product development, manufacturing and the commercial departments. A future-oriented PLM system must therefore be able to derive and manage ERP-compliant bills of materials from CAD. In keytech PLM the BOMs derived from the CAD can be easily edited and mechatronic BOMs can be transferred to the ERP or exported to neutral data formats such as XLSX, CSV, PDF, HTML.

The search for geometric similarities of CAD models offers real benefit in strategic parts management. Due to the efficiency and transparency gained, a significant increase in reuse can be achieved and the diversity of parts can be actively reduced.
