Because of the cost of creating and maintaining a unique master item in an ERP system (estimated to be between 500 and 2000 Euros), companies often do not create one for each section length of a profile. The additional geometric information such as length or width makes the part identifiable. keytech PLM automatically creates semi finished parts information based on the 3D CAD model and geometric information is automatically embedded into the bill of material. In addition a "One-Level bill of material" can be created for a master item for release to the ERP system to automate the process reducing manual effort and potential for error.
